Ansata Haalah
The foundations of our breeding program here at Silver
Maple Farm are straight Egyptian bloodlines. Our commitment is to preserve,
perpetuate and, by carefully selecting and using individuals which we
feel represent true desert type, improve the breed for future generations.
I guess we feel so strongly about this because of how much we appreciate
the history, commitment and efforts of men and women from past generations
to preserve the Arabian horse breed and particularly, the straight Egyptian
Arabians, for us to enjoy.
It's with the idea that these horsemen and women of the
past are watching over us that we strive to do our best when selecting
individuals for breeding. Thankfully there were those individuals who
recorded their efforts and results, ideas and theories, adventures and
successes that we can use to guide us on own journey with these wonderful
horses. I would be remiss if I didn't take this opportunity to acknowledge
Judi and Don Forbis of Ansata Arabian Stud. For current breeders of
Arabian horses, Judi and Don need no introduction. However, on the chance
that we have piqued the interest of someone who hasn't had the good
luck to have met them personally, let me just say this about Judi and
Don. They have contributed more to the Arabian horse than any couple
I have ever met. Their commitment knows no bounds and Judi has probably
forgotten more about the Egyptian Arabian horse than most of us will
ever learn. We all owe a debt of gratitude to them for their willingness
to share their horses and their knowledge.
So, with that said, I have become a student of the Arabian
horse and particularly of those of Egyptian bloodlines. In my studies
of some of the most successful Arabian horse breeders, including Judi
and Don Forbis, I have come to realize the undeniable value of the mares.
We truly cherish our broodmares. In fact, some of our straight Egyptian
female lines are quite rare with very few progeny worldwide. Such is
the case with Ansata Haalah. A shimmering white mare, Haalah is a daughter
of Ansata Iemhotep and out of Hasbah, a daughter of the important German
sire, Messaoud. Hasbah produced only three foals, Ansata Haalah being
the only one remaining here in the States and Hasbah was the only foal
produced by her dam, Hadibah. We believe that because of the rarity
of her mare lines Ansata Haalah is all the more valued.

Ansata Haalah represents the Hadbah Enzahiyah strain at
Silver Maple, through Bint Samiha, the dam of the important sire, Nazeer
who appears in Haalah's pedigree several times. On her tail female line,
Haalah traces to the imported chestnut mare *Nihal (Antar x Neamat)
who was not only a champion at halter, but a United States National
Champion in Western Pleasure and Top Ten in English Pleasure for Gleannloch
Farms.
Like a Mary Haggard painting come to life, Ansata Haalah
is a stunning mare with lovely, dark eyes, very good conformation, very
nice movement and really beautiful carriage. In my opinion, she is the
embodiment of the definition of the word "Classic". This year Haalah
gave us her first foal - a gorgeous colt by our stallion Ali Saroukh
(Ruminaja Ali x Glorietasayonaara) who has numerous lines to the Ansata
program as well. Although it may be too early to tell just how good
this colt will prove to be, we already value him immensely. We named
him Ali Hassan SMF and he certainly is promising in that he has a wonderful
face, good length of leg, a lovely set neck with an amazing length and
shape. Ali Hassan carries himself with confidence and style with his
tail held high - we think he's really quite special. You can see more
