Shaboura
On February 9, 1998, we were blessed with the birth of
Shaboura, a lovely grey filly by PVA Kariim (Imperial Imdal x BKA Rakiisah)
and out of our mare Sahbine (Ruminaja Ali x Glorietasayonaara). With
Shaboura, we established the third generation of this mare family for
Silver Maple Farm.
Shaboura is always a favorite with visitors at the farm.
Regardless of whether they are non-horse people, or connoisseurs of
Egyptian Arabian bloodlines, they will stop in their tracks and ask,
"Who is that!?", and then exclaim, "What a gorgeous mare!" As she matures,
she becomes more and more exotic.
Unfortunately, when Shaboura was only a suckling, she
had an accident and fractured her pelvis. We showed Shaboura on a limited
basis, but because our commitment has always been primarily breeding,
we focused on her potential as a broodmare. Initially, we were concerned
about her ability to carry a foal. After an evaluation, we decided to
avoid the risk and try an embryo transfer. We were successful and we're
looking forward to a foal by our stallion *Simeon Shai for 2005. *Simeon
Shai holds the distinction of being the only horse in the Arabian breed
to be named Scottsdale Champion, Canadian National Champion, U.S. National
Champion and World Champion Stallion - all in the same year. His unprecedented
show record is rivaled only by his record as a sire of champions. This
much anticipated baby will represent the fourth generation from our
foundation mare, and Shaboura's granddam, Glorietasayonaara.
Presently this gorgeous mare is in hunt seat training
under the able guidance of our Trainer, Keith Wakefield. Keith has over
20 years of experience in both halter and performance. He shares our
philosophies which include helping each horse to find and fulfill their
highest potential and creating an environment that respects their individuality.
We believe Shaboura is a good example of how well these philosophies
play out because she is a happy individual whether she's spending time
with Keith or out grazing in the pasture. We look forward to enjoying
her both in the show ring and as an important part of our breeding program.
