Shaia+
This 1990 Chestnut mare is by the Quattro Crown Champion
Stallion *Simeon Shai (Scottsdale, Canada, US & Salon De Cheval)
out of the BruMarBa bred Straight Spanish mare, Bint Zlabiya. Bruce
Clark and Gerry Alexander sold Shaia to us in 1995 after I started asking
about her at 5 months of age. Shaia+ herself has an impressive show
record with wins in Scottsdale, Region 18 Championship, a Reserve National
Championship in Canada, 2 Top Tens in Open Mares with Mike Neal. Few
will forget the 1996 Nationals in Louisville as Shaia+ with Mike Neal
presenting excited the arena to a near standing ovation. Shaia+ is also
a Legion of Honor winner.
"This mare exhibits the best of both sides of her pedigree."
The type and refinement of the Egyptian combined with the huge eyes
the Spanish horses are known for, plus such a kind and gentle disposition.
Henry and I have given consideration to showing her in
Amateur again, but she loves being a broodmare. Shaia, much like her
maternal granddam will nurse other mares foals and inevitably by the
time weaning comes around there are at least two to three foals by her
side. "I think the older mares are so relived when Shaia 'baby-sits'
their colts particularly."
