SMF 2005 Scottsdale Show Report
For many Arabian horse owners and breeders, the dream of a life time is to win a Scottsdale Championship. That dream came true for Henry and Christie Metz when their mare, Om El Shadream was named the 2005 Scottsdale Champion Mare AOTH – unanimously. The win picture illustrates very well the fact that this was a team effort. It includes Henry and the lovely Shadream, trainer Mike Neal and his better half, Katie Beck, Shadream’s breeders, Sigi and Jay Constanti and out side the ring was Henry and Shadream’s fan club - affectionately known as the Santa Ynez Social Club. After the initial thrill of the show came an even more satisfying realization for Christie and Henry and that is that how Om El Shadream is truly a member of their extended equine family. Om el Shadream is sired by Dreamcatcher SMF, a stallion bred by Christie and Henry. Go back another step and you’ll find that Dreamcatcher SMF is sired by Christie and Henry’s stallion BB Thee Renegade and out of their lovely mare, Shaia who is sired by another of Christie and Henry’s stallions, the international show ring superstar, *Simeon Shai. The Silver Maple Farm breeding program is based on straight Egyptian bloodlines and yet, Om El Shadream illustrates perfectly how those bloodlines can be used to enhance and compliment others. Many successful and influential breeders around the world agree with and utilize the practice of blending straight Egyptian bloodlines with others including Sigi and Jay Constanti. Om El Shadream is out of their mare Om El Shadina who traces back to Egyptian bloodlines through her sire Sanadik El Shaklan, to *El Shaklan, who was sired by the Straight Egyptian stallion Shaker El Masri. More straight Egyptian bloodlines can be found in Om El Shadream’s pedigree through her dam Om El Shadina, to Sanadik El Shaklan, and to his dam Mohena who was sired by Hadban Enzahi. Om El Shadream represents what Christie and Henry Metz value most, the connection and community of friends created through a shared passion for classic Arabian horses.
