The handsome, straight Egyptian stallion Ali Saroukh holds a special place in our hearts as well as in our breeding program. A son of our beloved foundation mare, Glorieta Sayonaara, Saroukh was one of the first straight Egyptian Arabians that our program produced. He was sired by Ruminaja Ali, one of the most influential Egyptian sires in modern times. Saroukh’s pedigree is a combination of some of the best breeding programs in the world, including Ansata, Gleannloch, and Babson breeding. For a better understanding of Ali Saroukh’s breeding, you can view his extended pedigree on his stallion page. While long-time breeders will recognize many of Saroukh’s ancestors, for new breeders, it represents many of the horses you will want to learn about.

As a sire of foals with classic type, exceptional conformation and movement, Ali Saroukh plays an important part in our overall breeding plan. He has been bred to a variety of mares and yet he consistently produces the kind of quality and type that we feel is a true contribution to the breed. For the future, we are especially excited about the results of his daughters that were bred this year to the farm’s other stallions. This is where we hope to see our breeding philosophy take form. We’ll keep you all posted with the results. For some examples of Silver Maple Farm’s Ali Saroukh progeny, just click on the button provided.

Equally important to Saroukh’s contributions and success as a sire, is his wonderful character. Saroukh has always been my best friend. He is playful and active, intelligent and kind. Several years ago his over-enthusiasm got the best of him - by dropping to his knees in his stall to play with his ball, he suffered an unfortunate injury. Although the injury cut short his show career, Saroukh was eventually sound enough to be trained under saddle and is now frequently ridden over the golden hills of the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. He seems very happy in his new home. He has beautiful mares to breed, a nice big pasture to enjoy and the care and respect that every horse deserves.
