BB Thee Renegade is a handsome bay, straight Egyptian stallion. We selected him as a sire for Silver Maple Farm because of his beautiful balance and extravagant style. When we first saw Renegade at the Egyptian Event, we were completely captivated by his exotic type, wonderful conformation and regal carriage. Even now, after all these years, he is such a show off – he bows his gorgeous neck, throws his tail over his back and prances so that his feet barely touch the ground. He is the epitome of classic Arabian type.
The fact that he is such a wonderful individual shouldn’t come as a complete surprise given his breeding. BB Thee Renegade was sired by the U.S. Reserve National Champion and sire of international champions, Thee Desperado and out of the lovely mare PH Safina. In a feat yet to be equaled, Renegade holds the record as the youngest stallion ever to win the Supreme Championship at the Egyptian Event. He was also named a Top Ten U.S. National Futurity Colt and he won several additional titles before his show career was cut short by a foot injury. Fortunately, Renegade is now sound, but his focus is on the breeding shed, not another ribbon. Bring on the mares!
When any breeder purchases a young, virtually unproven stallion, they can only cross their fingers and hope that their homework and their instincts will payoff. We feel extremely lucky and believe our commitment to Renegade has paid off in ways we never dreamed of. One of the most flattering compliments for our program came from breeders we have always admired and respected - Sigi and Jay Constanti, owners of the internationally-renowned Om el Arab International. They were attending the 1998 Egyptian Event, when they saw a young colt sired by Renegade and out of our “carrot queen”, the Canadian Reserve National Champion Mare, Shaia. The colt was only four months old and still at his mother’s side. They followed his progress for the next two years. You can imagine our delight when they expressed their interest in purchasing him for their breeding program.

Today, Dreamcatcher SMF is an exquisite, mature, black–as-a-raven stallion who calls Om El Arab his home. Fortunately, since our move to Santa Ynez, we live only a short distance from Dreamcatcher. With such a close proximity, we have been able to see for ourselves the great job he is doing by producing exceptional foals for Sigi and Jay and their clients. We’re using Dreamcatcher in our program by pairing him with Egyptian-sired mares, straight Spanish mares and other Egyptian-related mares. We’re really proud of Dreamcatcher and appreciative of Sigi and Jay for the care and attention they give him.
Because the quality of the foals produced by BB Thee Renegade and Shaia has been so consistently superior, we have continued the pairing. In 2004 Shaia gave us a full brother to Dreamcatcher SMF – Nightstar SMF! He is as close to a duplicate as we could hope for – he’s black, balanced and beautiful! We are very excited about him.
